Goldstein had been going to the same restaurant for te years. On every visit he always began his meal with the same barley soup. One day he came into the restaurant and sat down at the table. One of the waiters came by and brought him his soup. Goldstein addressed the waiter as he started to walk away.
Goldstein: Oh waiter?
Waiter: Yes? Is something wrong?
Goldstein: Taste the soup.
Waiter: Taste the soup? You always have this soup. Today you don't like it? I'll bring you another soup.
Goldstein: Taste the soup.
Waiter: So you don't like the barley soup. I'll bring you something else.
Goldstein: Taste the soup!
Waiter: All right all right all right already! I'll taste the soup! where's the spoon?
Goldstein: Aha!

It's a Jewish joke. Jewish folks tend to love drama. Sometimes they make a big deal out of a small thing just for the heck of it. Taste the soup! Where's the spoon? Aha! Why didn't the guy just ask for a spoon? Because there's no drama in it!

I got the joke at first, but I thought there was supposed to be some deeper meaning. It's not funny.
